Hello From Kansas!   It’s Donna, I thought I would share my experience and how I came about doing the photos for the American IronHorse.org “Classy Bikes … Classy Women – and their significant others” Gallery in hopes to get others thinking. Hmmm.... that’s pretty damn cool, or honey let’s do this or I’m not letting a girl have all the fun, LOL “The Idea ... and Planning” When Bill and I were discussing my bike being “Bike of the Week”, he had a thought.....as we all know sometimes that is scary, but this time I think he was on to something. Like he said you always see a lot of T & A when it comes to photos of bad ass bikes, which yea, nice to look at, but for me not so much, LOL. So that was my first motivation to do this. To show that you don’t have to show it all off to look good especially when you’re next to a killer bike like the AIH. My second was that with Christmas coming up, it would be great to do and make Christmas cards and a Christmas present for the folks - and if you’re all dressed up might as well be with the one you love....My Bike. I knew I was going to need help to pull this off quickly. I emailed my Sister-in-Law Debbie for her help in choosing my dresses and for making the plans. I had several dresses to pick from past parties that I had attended and she had a few as well. I knew I needed someone to ride my bike to and from locations. Lucky for me my brother David also is a biker and has two Harley's. He had never been on my bike, so what better time to let him see for himself how great it is. To give him more motivation I asked for him to join in with his bike at the last location to do a few pictures with me for the folks. “The Weather ... Not a Good Thing” With all plans made for the 9 th  of December, looking at the weather was not a good thing. Looks like the coldest day we could have picked. The day came and it was to be a high of 35 with wind gusts up to 25, but there was no backing out. I had made plans for up to 6 locations with wardrobe change at all locations; yes that meant changing in the SUV which was a chore in itself.  LOL. It ended up being a high of 28 and with the wind, the real feel was 10. With that being said, I changed plans; we went to only 3 places and only changed 3 times. Yes call me a puss - but perky is one thing, frozen solid is another, LOL. “Location, Location, Location” The first location was a side street with railroad tracks. Yellow dress on and out I went. Oh shit it was cold, LOL … took several pictures there. Debbie would run up wrap my coat around me until the photographer would be ready for the next picture. Second location was by a brick wall in the red dress. The wind was rolling into the cove we were in and my hair was blowing everywhere - and yes it seemed even colder yet. It was a fast photo taking there and funny thing is, I think the best pictures came from there. Yes nose is starting to run; not a real attractive thing in pictures or anywhere else for that matter, LOL. Third location was out of the city a bit on a black top in the open country side. “Who the hell decided this was a good idea” I’m asking myself as I step out with my short black dress on and get hit with 20 mph winds and I’m not even riding my bike. My poor brother David was riding my chopper, no heated grips or seat, no wind shield, no bells and whistles like on his Harley. He was freezing his ass off, I was sure of that, after riding my bike out and then going back into town to get his. I needed some liquid antifreeze right about now. By this time I’m not really caring much about looking great, just wanting to get it done and we did, finally it was over. Well, almost........ “What the Hell Was I Thinking?” The next thing was to change into my riding gear so I could ride my bike back into town; it only made sense to not make my brother ride his into town and then come and ride mine in. Now that was my biggest mistake - what the hell was I thinking! LOL. Damn, forgot my chaps, guess I thought I was tough and didn’t bring my heavy gauntlet gloves, just got the isotoners baby, no face mask, but I got my jeans, thermal top, AIH stocking cap, AIH hoodie, leather coat, wool socks and boots. Yea not near enough clothes on so what do I do...I pulled my big girl panties up and off I went....  Awww.... F**k....Yup I used the “F” word OOPS!. I think I got about 1/2 mile and my head was pounding, you know like a brain freeze when you eat or drink something cold real fast, yup like that. At the first stop sign Debbie jumps out of the SUV and wraps a scarf around my face and ties it, off I go again. Now I know why you wear a face mask, just the scarf helped a lot. Made it to the house finally....Yea this was another learning experience. This is my first winter having my own bike so I am still learning - yea learning not to ride when it feels like 10 damn degrees out! All in all it was a good time...easy for me to say that now that I am warm & cozy at home. Would I do it again....Not in that temp, that’s for damn sure, LOL “Who Will Follow Suit?” So now I’m going to see who will follow suit and get out there and show your Class with your Classy Bikes and significant other or just yourself. Yup it’s a challenge...Are you up for it or are you going to let this lady from Kansas be by herself? So get out there and strut your stuff! Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
